Taste St. Country Hoedown Raises Over $95,000 for Learners’ Centre

On Friday, March 23rd 2018, Health Sciences North Foundation hosted its fifth annual Taste St. event with a new and exciting theme – Country Hoedown. Guests enjoyed an evening sampling some of the finest food and drinks from local businesses and bid on one of a kind items in our live and silent auctions, all while mingling and having a grand ole time in their best country attire. By the end of the night, over $95,000 was raised to support the purchase of vital teaching equipment and the building of the new Learners’ Centre on the grounds of Health Sciences North (HSN), Ramsey Lake site.

Over the past five years, Taste St. has raised over $355,000 to support HSN’s Learners’ Centre. The Learners’ Centre is a thriving teaching facility where learners engage with tools, high fidelity mannequins and state-of-the-art technology in order to practice scenarios that train both medical staff and students for real life medical situations.

“Special thanks goes out to all of our amazing donors, volunteers, sponsors, food and drink presenters and attendees – the night was made possible thanks to their support,” says Mary Lou Hussak, President & CEO of Health Sciences North Foundation. “The smiles, the enthusiasm and the positive reactions we witnessed throughout the night are what make us proud to be part of such an incredible event.”

“Thank you to all who helped out on this amazing evening! Our team at the simulation lab is so appreciative of the support of the HSN Foundation and our Greater Sudbury community,” says Dr. Rob Anderson, Medical Lead, Simulation Laboratory. “Our little sim family loved meeting all of those who stopped by our peds demonstration! The funds raised at this event will go toward building the new centre and to purchase equipment that enhances the training of all health care providers at HSN. A very special thank you to all the businesses that set up booths and donated to this cause and to Health Sciences North Foundation team who worked so hard to make this such wonderful event for everyone!”
