Proud Supporter Makes a Difference for Mental Health

Health Sciences North (HSN) Foundation is pleased to announce that the 4th annual Bell HSNF Golf Classic, held at the Idylwylde Golf and Country Club, made history after raising over $166,000 for Health Sciences North’s Mental Health and Addictions Program.

A generous $10,000 donation from Greg Gibson – Sprott Mining Inc. contributed to the event’s huge success.

“On behalf of Sprott Mining, Cindy and I are proud to support Health Sciences North’s Mental Health and Addictions Program,” said Greg Gibson, President and CEO of Sprott Mining Inc. “We are honoured to support Health Sciences North in an area of care that is often overlooked through a donation of $10,000. Together we can help to reduce the discrimination of mental illnesses and addictions in our community.”

“Greg and Cindy’s support of HSN’s Mental Health and Addictions Program will have a positive impact on our community and will provide tens of thousands of Northern Ontarians with much needed support,” said Dr. Rayudu Koka, Medical Director, Mental Health and Addictions, HSN. “Their generous donation will help us increase awareness and advocate for mental health and addictions. As we continue to share our stories and experiences, we will be successful in our efforts to reduce the prejudices related to mental illnesses and ultimately improve mental health and wellness.”

“Health Sciences North Foundation would like to thank Greg and Cindy Gibson of Sprott Mining Inc. for their generous support of mental health and addictions care in our community,” said Mary Lou Hussak, President and CEO, HSN Foundation. “Because of their support, HSN is building the resource capacity to deliver the highest quality mental health and addictions care.”

Proceeds raised from the Bell HSNF Golf Classic will support Health Sciences North’s Mental Health and Addictions Program. The program delivers integrated community and hospital-based services to people of all ages, in individual, group and family based care models at eight locations. Mental health and addictions professionals provide assessments, treatments, support and consultations to tens of thousands of individuals and their families each year.
