On Friday, April 1, 2016, Health Sciences North Foundation will present the third annual Taste St. “Graffiti Alley,” a new twist to the popular tasting event. Funds raised at Graffiti Alley will support the purchase of vital teaching equipment and the building of the new Learners Centre on the grounds of Health Sciences North.
Taste St. will feature urban attire, street art, and unlimited food and drink sampling including hors d’oeuvres, desserts and libations, all donated by supporters of Health Sciences North Foundation. Raffles and live and silent auctions featuring one of a kind items donated by celebrities, artisans, and local businesses will round out the evening.
Over the past two years, Taste St. has raised more than $140,000 to support simulation based learning for medical learners. The Simulation Lab at Health Sciences North’s Learners Centre is a thriving teaching facility where 1,897 learners logged 11,363 hours of medical training in the last year alone. Learners engage with tools and high fidelity mannequins and technology in order to practice scenarios that train both medical staff and students who are, or soon will be, on the front line of patient care.
This year’s Taste St. “Graffiti Alley” promises to be a hip street party that will feature graffiti art from some of the most talented local artists in a lively, colourful and edgy atmosphere.
