Health Sciences North Foundation is pleased to announce that this year’s Bell HSNF Golf Classic, held on July 13, scored a hole in one for Health Sciences North’s Mental Health and Addictions Program, raising more than $166,000.
Local mental health champion and radio personality Terry Callaghan was on hand to emcee the evening’s events and share his personal stories to a full house at the Idylwylde Golf and Country Club.
“I am very proud to be part of the Bell HSNF Golf Classic. The Mental Health and Addictions Program at HSN is now more important than ever,” said Terry Callaghan. “It’s an everyday struggle for many, and the awareness and money raised at this golf tournament will ensure that the people who need help continue to get the care they need.”
“The Bell HSNF Golf Classic was a tremendous success on all counts,” said Mary Lou Hussak, President and CEO, Health Sciences North Foundation. “We would like to thank Bell, Andrew Jensen, Terry Callaghan and the golfers, sponsors and volunteers for their support of the Mental Health and Addictions Program in our community through their participation in this year’s tournament.”
“I am very pleased to have participated in the Bell HSNF Golf Classic to support Health Sciences North’s Mental Health and Addictions Program,” said Bell Let’s Talk ambassador Andrew Jensen. “Increasing access to mental health care is so important and will help improve the lives of people in communities throughout northern Ontario.”
“I would like to express my sincere thanks on behalf of our HSN Mental Health Team, our patients, families and friends for such great support from all the sponsors and participants of this event,” said Dr. Rayudu Koka, Medical Director, Mental Health and Addictions, HSN. “I would particularly like to thank local champion Terry Callaghan, whose support has increased HSN’s capacity to deliver the highest quality mental health and addictions care while raising awareness and reducing the stigma of mental illness.”
All proceeds raised from the Bell HSNF Golf Classic will support Health Sciences North’s Mental Health and Addictions Program. The program delivers integrated community and hospital-based services to people of all ages, in individual, group and family based care models at eight locations. Mental health and addictions professionals provide assessments, treatments, support and consultations to tens of thousands of individuals and their families each year.
